Water Therapy

Water gives strength and satisfaction to body.It removes the impurities of body and refreshes it.Water gives rise to six form of ‘ras’ and is like nectar to all living beings. Seventy percent of our body is made up of water.Water is medicine.Water is enemy of diseases. It destroys all diseases.

  • ORDINARY DAILY BATH
    For maintaining good health just as we need food and exercise everyday similarly we need bath every day.Water used in daily bath should be pure and cold

  • DRY FRICTION BATH
    Palms of the hand ,rough towel,sponge of very soft brush is rubbed from head to toe till body warms up.If one takes dry friction bath regularly he would not have cold and cough.

  • COLD FRICTION BATH
    Palms of hands are dipped in water and then the body is rubbed by wet palms the same way as is done in dry friction bath

  • TOWEL BATH
    It is very similar to cold friction bath. A towel is dipped in cold water and wringed. Those who are recovering after fever or those who have deficiency of blood should be given towel bath.

  • HIP BATH
    A special tub is needed for hip bath ,after sitting in this tub full of water only thighs and body upto navel are under water.Hip bath cleanses the stomach and increases blood circulation.

  • SPINAL BATH
    Take a long towel and wet it with cold water and then wring it.Take both ends of the towel in both the hands so that towel is behind the naked back.Now rub the towel in the spinal column from 5 to 15 minutes.

  • KUNJAR or STOMACH BATH OR JAL DHOTI
    Early in the morning after answering the call of nature one should do stomach bath. Two and a half litre water is needed in which salt is added .The prepared water should be slowly drunk after that one should use his fingers to bring out water in the stomach.

  • SHANKH PRAKSHALAN OR STOMACH AND INTESTINE BATH
    Our rishis and yogis invented shankh prakshalan to clean the entire digestive system from stomach to large intestine.Four to five kilos water id needed in which salt is added.One should sit in the pose of Kagasan and drink as much water as possible.Then one should perform the following exercises so that the water which has been drunk comes out through anus.

Do this 5 asanas for shankh prakshalan
  • Hastottanassan
  • Urdhva Hastottanassan
  • Udarkarshasan
  • Kati Chakarasan
  • Bhujangasana
Some important points regarding this are as follows
  • Best time to do shankh Prakshalan is February,March,October and November.
  • A day before one should eat light food.
  • Complete rest should be taken the day one does shnkh Prakshalan
  • An ordinay person can do this 2 or 3 times a year.
  • Do not sit in cold windon the day this activity is done.
NOTE: Shankh Prakshalan in the beginning should be done under guidance of an expert.
  • ENEMA
    In Enema water is inserted into the intestines through gravity.The Enema can is placed at a certain height and a rubber tube which has syringe at the ends takes water to the anus of patient. Enema takes water to the large intestine and cleans them.Constipation which is the root cause of all diseases is removed by Enema.It is beneficil in chronic constipation,headache,lack of appetite,cough, bad smell in mouth and nervous ailments.

  • USHAPAN
    Water kept in copper vessel should be kept overnight .Water is purified when it comes in contact with copper in 12 hours. Usha means dawn and the above process of taking water which has been kept overnight in a copper vessel is known as ushapan. If one drinks water at the time of sunrise he never falls ill,he does not get old. Piles,fever,eye ailments,nose bleeding, acidity Water taken as Ushapan goes to the kidneys and makes them strong.It removes foreign matter through urine.It washes the intestines. It mixes with digestive juices and improves their ability to digest food.

  • WATER DURING FEVER
    During fever lot of water goes out through sweat to reduce the heat of fever and to expel poisonous foreign mater from the body.Therefore one feels thirsty. It is desirable patient drinks sufficient water during fever.

  • WATER DURING FAST
    While fasting one should drink 4 to 5 liters water in 24 hours but in small quantities at a time, drinking water during fast cleanses the internal organs.

  • WET BANDAGE
    It has great importance in treatment by water element.It is best to use khadi or hand made cloth for wet bandage.It should be white.
